- All members went around the table and introductions were made. This is the first meeting of the new school year. Members shared “Good Things” to kick off the meeting.
- What is an SIC? Mr. Taylor shared details about the purpose of an SIC and how the FES SIC operates. We meet the 2nd Monday of each month at 7:30 am. Our SIC serves as an advisory council consisting of community, school, and family members. We create SIC goals that align to the FES school goals and work on an action plan to meet those goals. Ms. Shattuck shared the importance of recruiting parents to be involved with SIC.
Principal’s update: Mr. Taylor
- Mr. Taylor shared his vision for having a track team for FES! We already have Girls on the Run, but he has also reached out to A Touch of Speed for the boys.
- Business Partners: Ms. Wade will share the list of Business Partners. Mr. Taylor has reached out to Eggs Up Grill and Palmetto Flats.
- Academic Goals: Mr. Taylor shared that our goal at FES this year is for every student to meet their growth goal on MAP Reading test. Math is a major focus for us this year as well. Our 4th grade teachers will be implementing Eureka math curriculum this year!
PTA Update: Ms. Wade
Picture Day will be September 13th. Ms. Carway will be sending out a link for volunteers.

- Fall Spirit wear orders are going on now. There is a minimum amount needed to place an order. Ms. Wade will push out the information again.
- The Buzz-a-thon will be held on November 8th. We will need lots of parent volunteers. It would be helpful for parents to get a schedule ahead of time, so parents have time to prepare and adjust work schedules. Ms. Stark will work on this. This is the biggest PTA fundraiser. Last year $31,000 was raised.
- Membership: 161 members.
Report to the Parents review- Found on the website, completed in the Spring of each year as a review of the previous year.
